Your Calling Won’t Fit in Their Box

Chapter: Nehemiah 6 | Verse: Nehemiah 6:10–14

“Then I saw that surely God had not sent him, but he spoke the prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.”

— Nehemiah 6:12 LSB

If the enemy can’t scare you with insults, he’ll try to confuse you with misdirection. Not every “word from God” is from God. Not every friend has your mission in mind.

A prophet named Shemaiah invites Nehemiah to hide in the temple—sounds wise, right? But Nehemiah discerns the trap. It wasn’t fear dressed as faith. It was manipulation dressed as prophecy.

Nehemiah refuses. His mission is clear, and his discernment is sharper than his critics.

God’s call on your life won’t always make sense to others. Be discerning. Test the voices. And don’t let fear dictate your steps.

You’ll face conflicting advice, spiritual pressure, and internal doubt. Walking with God will help you cultivate spiritual discernment, not just spiritual activity.

Closing Prayer

Father, make me wise in a world of voices. Let me follow Your Word—not their agenda.
