The Wicket Gate

Chapter Reading: John 10 | Verse of the Day: John 10:9

Every journey has a starting point. Every story has a doorway. In Bunyan’s allegory, that doorway is small, narrow, and often missed, just like Jesus said it would be.

Welcome to the Wicket Gate.

“I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” — John 10:9

Christian, burdened and desperate, finally reaches the Wicket Gate. It’s not grand. It’s not popular. But it’s the way in—the narrow path that leads to life.

When he knocks, he’s welcomed.

Jesus is clear: “I am the door.” Not one of many, not a metaphor, not a suggestion. The door. Entry into the life God offers begins not with achievement, but surrender, not through many ways, but through One Name.

We live in a world of wide roads, open options, and spiritual buffet lines. But Jesus stands firm. He’s still the Gate. The invitation is still open. The door still holds.

But you have to come through Him.

 Application

  • Have you truly entered through Jesus, or are you still circling the gate?
  • Reread John 10 and reflect on the security Jesus promises to those in His fold.
  • Share your testimony this week—how you came through the Gate and found life.

Christian’s arrival at the Wicket Gate echoes Jesus’ call to enter through Him alone. If you’ve never settled your faith in Christ, let today be the day. And for encouragement in your journey, visit ShoeLeatherGospel.com.

 Closing Prayer

Jesus, thank You for being the Door. Let me walk through You daily—trusting Your path, trusting Your Name, trusting Your grace.

Heaven’s door isn’t locked—but it’s narrow. And the Key has a name: Jesus.
