Chapter: Proverbs 15 | Verse: Colossians 2:8
Every person sees the world through a lens. The question isn’t if you have a worldview—it’s which one. And Paul warns: if your lens isn’t grounded in Christ, it’s already distorted.
“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” — Colossians 2:8, LSB
Proverbs 15 speaks repeatedly of wise speech, upright living, and reverent fear of the Lord. In short—it paints the fruit of a godly worldview. Colossians 2:8 then diagnoses the danger of any worldview not grounded in Christ: it captivates, deceives, and enslaves.
A biblical worldview is not just about having the right answers—it’s about being rooted in the right source. It sees the world through the reality of creation, the tragedy of sin, the redemption of Christ, and the hope of His return.
It’s more than ideas. It’s the lens that shapes how you parent, vote, spend, suffer, and hope.
And if we don’t intentionally root our worldview in Christ, culture will plant one for us.
What is your worldview really built on?
- Evaluate your assumptions about truth, morality, and purpose.
- Ask: “Does Scripture shape my thinking—or just sprinkle my opinions?”
- Read Colossians 2 aloud, then Proverbs 15—notice what fruit grows from truth.
