Walk with the Wise

Chapter: Proverbs 13 | Verse: Proverbs 13:20

Your future is shaped by your friendships. The people you surround yourself with aren’t just companions—they’re compass points. According to Solomon, if you want to grow wise, walk with the wise.

“He who walks with wise men will be wise, But a companion of fools will suffer harm.” — Proverbs 13:20, LSB

We don’t drift into wisdom—we grow into it. And growth requires environment. Proverbs 13 is filled with cause-and-effect patterns. Wise choices yield blessing. Foolish choices bring pain. And our relationships often tip the scale.

The principle is simple but sobering: wisdom is contagious. So is foolishness.

You’ll never rise above the level of the voices you consistently follow. Solomon urges us to choose carefully—not just our mentors, but our friends. Are they people who fear God? Do they challenge you to grow? Or do they feed your flesh?

If you want to walk in wisdom—look at who’s walking beside you.
