Every Deal Needs Discernment

Chapter: Proverbs 7 | Verse: Proverbs 2:2–5

Not every open door is from God. Not every opportunity is wise. That’s why discernment isn’t optional in a world full of spiritual counterfeits—it’s essential. And God says it begins with tuning your ear to wisdom.

“Make your ear pay attention to wisdom; Incline your heart to discernment… Then you will understand the fear of Yahweh and find the knowledge of God.” — Proverbs 2:2, 5 LSB

Proverbs 7 is a cautionary tale—a young man seduced by smooth words and short-term thrill. It’s not just about sexual temptation. It’s about the tragic cost of lacking discernment.

Solomon doesn’t shame—he warns. And he gives the antidote: listen to wisdom, incline your heart to discernment, seek it like treasure.

Discernment is God’s alarm system for the soul. It alerts you when something looks good—but isn’t. It helps you weigh motives, not just outcomes. And it only grows when we soak our hearts in Scripture and walk humbly with God.

Every deal, every decision, every desire—needs discernment.
