Chapter: Nehemiah 1 | Verse: Nehemiah 1:5–11
“And I said, ‘I beseech You, O Yahweh, the God of heaven, the great and fearsome God, who keeps covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments…’”
— Nehemiah 1:5 LSB
What if the ache in your chest is actually an answered prayer? What if the burden you carry is the beginning of your calling? Sometimes, God breaks your heart—not to hurt you, but to use you.
Nehemiah doesn’t rush into building plans. He gets honest with God first. His prayer is not a motivational speech—it’s a raw surrender. He confesses the sins of his people, pleads for mercy, and anchors his hope in God’s covenant faithfulness.
Nehemiah’s heartbreak becomes holy fuel. He names what’s broken. He trusts God’s Word. And he ends not in despair, but in dependence: “Make Your servant successful today.”
This is how God rebuilds walls—through men and women willing to start on their knees.
Has God placed something heavy on your heart? Don’t ignore it. Don’t rush to fix it. Bring it before Him—confess, remember, and ask for direction. Let brokenness lead you to the blueprint.
As we move toward the launch of Walking with God, you’ll hear this theme again and again: God works through surrendered hearts. Like Nehemiah, our path starts in prayer, moves in courage, and depends on grace. Stay with us—we’re just getting started.
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for trusting me with a burden. Teach me to weep, pray, and then rise with Your Word in my heart.
