Chapter: Nehemiah 3 | Verse: Nehemiah 3:1–32
“Then Eliashib the high priest arose with his brothers the priests and built the Sheep Gate… and next to him…”
— Nehemiah 3:1–2a LSB
Nehemiah 3 is one of those chapters we love to skim—just a list of names and gates and tasks. But that’s the point. God saw every single one of them. And He wrote their names down.
Eliashib. Shallum. Rephaiah. Goldsmiths. Perfume-makers. Gate-repairers. None of them famous. All of them faithful.
God honored each one—not for how big their role was, but for their obedience. No task too small. No name forgotten.
That’s what kingdom work looks like. It’s not about stage lights. It’s about street corners. About fixing the gate in front of your house—and trusting God to rebuild the whole city.
Where has God placed you to build? It may not feel flashy. But your name is known to Him. Your work matters. Be faithful.
Every believer has a brick in their hand. Walking with God will equip you to carry yours well—wherever you live, serve, and struggle. Because wall-builders still have names.
Closing Prayer
Father, help me be faithful where You’ve placed me. I don’t need a spotlight—just Your smile.
