The Gospel According to Nehemiah

Chapter: Nehemiah 13 | Verse: Nehemiah 13:14, 22, 31

“Remember me, O my God, for good.”

— Nehemiah 13:31b LSB

Nehemiah’s final prayer is simple and desperate: “Remember me, O my God, for good.” He knew he wasn’t enough. He knew he needed mercy.

Nehemiah wasn’t perfect. The reforms didn’t last. The people wandered. But he still prayed. Still trusted. Still built. And he died in hope—waiting for Someone better.

Someone who wouldn’t just build the wall—but redeem the people.

Where does your effort end and God’s grace begin? Let Nehemiah’s prayer be yours: “Remember me… for good.”

Jesus is the better Nehemiah. Walking with God starts by trusting in the One who finished the work we never could.

Closing Prayer

Jesus, remember me—not for what I’ve done, but for what You’ve done in my place.
