Chapter: Nehemiah 2 | Verse: Nehemiah 2:1–8

“And the king said to me… ‘What would you request?’ So I prayed to the God of heaven.”

— Nehemiah 2:4 LSB

Sometimes God’s call leads you straight into the DMV of destiny. You pray for revival—and end up in front of a king asking for permits. Faith isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes, it’s paperwork and waiting rooms.

After months of prayer, Nehemiah finally gets his moment. The king notices his grief—and asks a dangerous question. Nehemiah’s heart races. His life is on the line. But before answering, he prays again.

Even mid-conversation, Nehemiah knows who holds real authority. The result? God moves the heart of a pagan king to fund the mission, write the permits, and send Nehemiah on his way.

Prayer opens doors no influence can.

When God gives you a burden, expect red tape. But don’t lose heart. Keep praying. Trust that the God who stirs your spirit can also stir the hearts of kings.

Every episode of Walking with God will be steeped in this truth: God is sovereign over every step. Whether you’re facing rubble or bureaucracy, He’s preparing the way. This journey is about faith with grit. Let’s walk it together.

Closing Prayer

Lord, give me the courage to speak, the wisdom to wait, and the faith to trust You in the halls of power and the silence of prayer.
