Faith Has Blisters

Chapter: Nehemiah 4 | Verse: Nehemiah 4:15–23

“So we carried on the work with half of them holding spears… and the builders each wore his sword at his side as he built.”

— Nehemiah 4:17–18 LSB

Discipleship isn’t glamorous. It’s blistered hands, aching backs, and calloused knees. If your walk with God hasn’t cost you anything lately—you might not be building what He called you to.

The wall kept rising—but so did the tension. Everyone worked in shifts, guarded the gates, and slept in their clothes. It was gritty, exhausting, sacred work.

Nehemiah doesn’t romanticize the battle. He organizes it. Faith isn’t fantasy—it’s forged through fatigue.

What has your faith cost you recently? Where are you leaning on comfort instead of calling? Ask God for endurance—and expect some blisters.

We’re not inviting you into a comfy Christianity. Walking with God will challenge you to carry your brick—and your sword. It’s real-world discipleship.

Closing Prayer

Jesus, make me strong for the task. Let me welcome the blisters if they come in obedience to You.
